چکیده

The effect of illumination on the surface interaction and the reaction between NO ? C2H5OH was investigated on TiO2 and Ag/TiO2. By means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy the formation of an absorption band at 2,210 cm was observed on pure TiO2, which was attributed to the NCO species. Similar measurements on Ag/TiO2 produced another spectral feature at 2,170 cm, which was assigned to the vibration of NCO bonded to Ag. These absorption bands formed more easily on oxidized than on reduced surfaces. Study of the catalytic reduction of NO with ethanol showed that the illumination of the system induced the reaction even at room temperature.

Formic Acid Decomposition Using Synthesized Ag/TiO2 Nanocomposite in Ethanol-Water Media Under Illumination of Near UV Light

The effect of ethanol-water media on the synthesis of Ag/TiO2 nanocomposite was investigated with 0.05, 0.1 and 0.5 (wt.%) of Ag content. Ethanol was used as hole-scavenger enhancing the photodecomposition of Ag+ ions under illumination of near-UV light. The nanocomposites were further calcined to 300˚C and 400˚C under controlled atmosphere. The synthesized nanocomposites were tested for photoc...

Characterization, photocatalytic, and antibacterial activity of Ag–TiO2 nanoparticles prepared by electrical arc discharge method

A simple, inexpensive and one-step synthesis route of Ag-TiO2 nanoparticles by arc discharge method isreported. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electronmicroscopy. X-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate dominance of rutile to anatase phase in TiO2 andformation of silver metal on TiO2 after arc discharge process. Scanning electron microscopy im...

Effects of Ag, Nd codoping on structural, optical and photocatalytic properties of TiO2 nanocomposite synthesized via sol-gel method using starch as a green additive

In this paper, undoped TiO2 and Ag-Nd-codoped TiO2 nanocomposites with different molar ratios of dopants were synthesized by the sol-gel method using starch as a natural additive. Structures were investigated by FT-IR and UV–Vis spectroscopy, SEM, and XRD methods. Moreover, the direct band gap was calculated by Tauc's approach. Furthermore, photocatalytic activity of all s...

Charge separation and catalytic activity of Ag@TiO2 core-shell composite clusters under UV-irradiation.

Photocatalytic properties of Ag@TiO2 composite clusters have been investigated using steady state and laser pulse excitations. Photoexcitation of TiO2 shell results in accumulation of the electrons in the Ag core as evidenced from the shift in the surface plasmon band from 460 to 420 nm. The stored electrons are discharged when an electron acceptor such as O2, thionine, or C60 is introduced int...

Highly efficient and recyclable triple-shelled Ag@Fe3O4@SiO2@TiO2 photocatalysts for degradation of organic pollutants and reduction of hexavalent chromium ions.

Herein, we demonstrate the design and fabrication of the well-defined triple-shelled Ag@Fe3O4@SiO2@TiO2 nanospheres with burr-shaped hierarchical structures, in which the multiple distinct functional components are integrated wonderfully into a single nanostructure. In comparison with commercial TiO2 (P25), pure TiO2 microspheres, Fe3O4@SiO2@TiO2 and annealed Ag@Fe3O4@SiO2@TiO2 nanocomposites, ...
